Fiberglass reinforced plastic sculpture design should take into account the characteristics of material technology. 2. Manufacture of FRP

Hand paste method was used in the production. 3. Mould Making

Mold making is the key to forming. Gypsum is often used in mould making, but the strength of gypsum is low and it is easy to deform for a long time. Molds can be made of silicone rubber and fiberglass material. Silicone rubber is in a fluid state before use, with good flow and filling. The elastomer formed by cross-linking reaction has large elastic deformation, and the water of the prototype has no effect on the cross-linking reaction. After crosslinking, the silicone rubber has good sealing property and does not bond with the original FRP. Used as the surface layer of FRP mould, it can reproduce the shape of the work with high quality, and demould smoothly. However, the cross-links are easily deformed and need to support the carrier. It is used as the carrier of the mould because of the easy-to-form property of FRP.


4. Mould making method:

The silicone rubber is prepared and applied to the original mould after the silicone rubber layer is more than 1 mm. After crosslinking, fiberglass reinforced plastics (FRP) layer of about 3 mm was formed on silicone rubber. After curing, the mold is cut by dividing the unit blocks along the curing edge, and attention should be paid to cutting both the FRP layer and the silicone rubber layer at the same time. A slot is made at the connecting rib joint rib between the units to ensure that the connecting rib makes the die of the unit block assemble as a whole. After the work is completed, the FRP unit block is demoulded, then the silicone rubber layer is removed, and the silicone rubber removed is immediately put back into the FRP unit die.


5. Forming method

Hand paste forming method was adopted and the design idea before manufacture was adopted. Combine part of paste products from one end. Part of the solidified die is then pasted again. Combine as many units as possible at a time. Finally, a unit block is left, which is pre-formed and glued to the whole sculpture. The hard-to-make parts of the sculpture, such as the corners, legs and tails of animals, can be roughly shaped with the corresponding metal materials, and then shaped on the materials into fiberglass reinforced plastics, which can be polished and repaired. The surface of the sculpture is complex and should be treated specially. Where glass is difficult to lay, it should be filled with resin and then laid with fiberglass and square cloth. The length of the resin putty is suitable for the surface layer, and the metal skeleton is buried in the sculpture when it is shaped and manufactured. Increase the stiffness and strength of the sculpture, increase its service life, and finally install it with a metal skeleton.
